As Senior Project Manager at Resources for Community Development (RCD), Mr. Kashani secured funding from five different sources, including local, State and Federal programs for acquisition and development of this property. Berkeley’s Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) blocked the demolition of the two-story turn-of the century structure, by landmarking the building. Berkeley City Council overturned the landmarking designation. LPC blocked the project’s funding at the State level.
Kashani worked out a compromise to preserve the front 16 feet of the structure and to demolish the balance of it.
