In 1995, the City of Walnut Creek’s Police Department was receiving a large volume of calls from neighbors of 160 Sierra Drive. The property had been suffering from poor management since it was passed onto out-of-state heirs the previous year. Mr. Kashani put the property under contract and began a tedious loan application process with the City of Walnut Creek and Contra Costa County. Almost six months later, escrow closed with funds from the City, the County and a loan from Bank of Walnut Creek.
Kashani hired new property management personnel and quickly cleaned up the property and brought its cash flow into the black. After major renovation of the property, the units were completed a year later. There are 24 restricted, affordable units and four market-rate unrestricted units.
